Ata Ebtekar, better known as Sote, is an electronic music composer and sound artist based in Tehran, Iran. His deep love for rich sounds and textures spans a diverse range of styles, from hardcore club music to collaborations blending traditional acoustic instruments with electronic elements, as well as solo experimental electronics. Over the past three decades, he has released music on labels such as Warp, Diagonal, SVBKVLT, Sub Rosa, Morphine, and Opal Tapes. On his first album of 2024, *Ministry of Tall Tales*, Ata intensifies his compositional approach, attempting to process the immense frustration, anger, confusion, helplessness, and fear he has experienced in recent years, largely due to the sociopolitical circumstances in Iran and his surroundings. His latest release, *Sound System Persepolis*, is a futuristic hardcore album featuring pummeling rhythms and harmonically complex computer music. The album draws its name from Persepolis, the historical administrative center and beating heart of the Persian Empire.
