What is the difference between an event and an attraction?

Eventfrog offers you two ways to categorise your offer: Events and Attractions.

What is an event?

An event is an event that takes place on one or more fixed dates or over a limited period of time. This includes both one-off and recurring events with fixed dates.

These include, for example:

Concerts - individual performances or tours with several dates
Festivals - multi-day events with a fixed programme
Theatre performances - with a fixed programme or limited performances
Readings - Author readings or book presentations on specific dates
Sports events - Tournaments, competitions or one-off games
Flea markets - Individual or regular markets on specific days

Special features of events:

They have a clearly defined start and end time.
Tickets can be purchased for a specific date.
Recurring events with several individual dates can be entered as a series

Series events with fixed dates also count as events!
This means that even if an event takes place regularly, it counts as an event as long as the dates are fixed (e.g. a monthly comedy evening or a theatre production with fixed performance days).

What is an attraction?

An attraction is a permanent offer with fixed opening hours or regularly recurring opportunities to visit.
In contrast to an event, there are no fixed event dates, but rather continuous availability.

Examples of attractions are:

Museums - Permanent or long-term exhibitions
Zoos & animal parks - Regular opening hours with changing offers
Amusement parks - Seasonal or year-round opening hours with various attractions
Fun & thermal baths - Daily or seasonal operation
Escape rooms - Bookable time slots for a continuous offer

Special features of attractions:

No fixed dates: Visitors can come flexibly within the opening hours.
Ongoing operation: Attractions are permanently available, often for months or years.

Which choice is the right one?

Choose «Event» if your offer takes place on a specific day or during a limited time window.
Choose «Attraction» if your offer is available permanently or with regular opening hours.

What happens after the selection?

Once you have decided on a category, you will be guided through the creation process:

For events: Enter the date, time, venue, ticket sales and other details.
For attractions: Definition of opening times, possible ticket options and special offers.
